Lithuania's Minister of Foreign Affairs will visit heritage objects of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in Belarus

On 24-25 August, Lithuania's Minister of Foreign Affairs Vygaudas Usackas will pay a visit to Belarus. The Minister has been invited by Minister for Foreign Affairs of Belarus Sergei Martynov to pay a visit to the neighbouring country and to view together heritage objects of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in Lida, Navahrudak, Nesvizh and Mir.

This visit aims at making the cooperation of the neighbouring countries more active, with a special attention to the culture, tourism, business and people-to-people cooperation in the border regions.

Preconditions for a more active cooperation will be set in a bilateral agreement between Lithuania and Belarus on the facilitation of travelling for the residents of border areas. The agreement is being finalised at the moment.

During the meetings with Minister for Foreign Affairs of Belarus and representatives from the local administration, Minister V.Usackas will discuss ways of preserving mutual historical and cultural heritage of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, and means of using it for the strengthening of bilateral relations between the two nations.

Minister V.Usackas also intends to discuss political and economic issues of bilateral cooperation and perspectives of the dialogue between Belarus and the European Union with the head of the Belarusian diplomacy.

During the visit, Minister V.Usackas plans to visit the Lithuanian communities in Lida, Rymdziuny and Gervyaty.
