Lithuania receives Venezuelan oil for Belarus

The landlocked country is seeking alternative sources of oil for its refineries after the Russian Federation raised tariffs on its crude oil exports

An 80,000-ton ship carrying Venezuelan oil for Belarus arrived on Sunday at the Lithuanian port of Klaipeda.

The landlocked country is seeking alternative sources of oil for its refineries after the Russian Federation raised tariffs on its crude oil exports.

The oil shipment, which has been considered a test, will be downloaded at railway tank wagons in the Klaipedos Naftan oil terminal and will be shipped to the Naftan refinery in Novopolotsk, port authorities said.

A first shipment of sweet crude oil sent to the region was shipped to Belarus through the Baltic Sea in the Estonian port of Muuga, in July.
