The total number of registered SIM cards in Belarus has reached 9.9 million, according to the Republic's Minister of Communications and Informatisation, Nicolai Pantelei, as quoted by e-Belarus.org. 'During the first half of the year [the] cellular mobile telecom operator base increased by 241,000 users, their total amount reaching 9.9 million', he said. This equates to growth of 2.5% in the first half of the year. The minister also revealed that the total number of broadband internet subscribers increased by 318,600 in 1H10 (national PTO Beltelecom had 400,000 at end-2009), the IPTV user base climbed 73,800 to 141,300 and the fixed telephony user base was up 77,500 at around 3.977 million.
