MINSK. Sept 28 (Interfax-West) - The volume of Belarussian-Chinese trade for 2006 will be 20% larger than 2005 and will exceed $700 million, Chinese Ambassador to Belarus Wu Hongbin said at a news conference in Minsk on Thursday.
Wu credited Belarussian enterprises with taking part in the development if western China and with rebuilding industry in the northeast of his country.
However, some Belarussian enterprises are taking a wait-and-see stance. "Our market is open, Belarussian investment and Belarussian partners are awaited," he said.
Only high-quality and relatively inexpensive goods will sell well in China, he said.
Chinese business representatives are in intensive talks with representatives of some Belarussian industries concerning specific technical aspects of proposed Chinese involvement in modernizing a heat and power plant in Minsk, Wu said.
