Iran's Foreign Minister to visit Belarus

MINSK. Sept 6 (Interfax) - Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki will be on an official visit in Minsk on September 7 - 8, the press service of the Belarussian Foreign Ministry told Interfax.

"The program of the visit envisages meetings with Belarussian House of Representatives Chairman Vladimir Konoplyov and Belarussian Foreign Minister Sergei Martynov, for a discussion of the whole range of issues in the area of bilateral cooperation, as well as the exchange of opinions on key issues on the world's political agenda," the press service said.

"The countries have established a high-level political dialogue," the Belarussian Foreign Ministry said.

Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko was on an official visit in Iran in March 1998, while former Iranian President Seyyed Mohammad Khatami paid a return visit in September 2004.

Special representative of the Iranian President and Deputy Foreign Minister Mehdi Safari was on a visit in Minsk in November 2005, while the Iranian industry minister visited Minsk this August.
