Belarusian TV claims former speaker advocates banned religious sect
MINSK. Sept 3 (Interfax-West) - Belarusian Channel 1 reported on Sunday that former parliament speaker Stanislav Shushkevich is an advocate of the Church of Unification of Sun Myung Moon which is prohibited in Belarus.
Reporters claim that Shushkevich and his wife for years have been advocates of the church, which Belarus has recognized to be a destructive sect.
They said that Shushkevich is in constant contact with the head of the sect living in South Korea, regularly visits him and promotes the spread of Moon's teaching in Belarus.
