Belarus in talks with Turkmenistan over gas supplies

Belarus is in talks with Turkmenistan over medium-term Turkmen gas supplies, Interfax reports quoting a statements by deputy presidium chairman of the Belarusian National Academy of Sciences, Vladimir Timashpolski, in Minks today.

"We negotiate supplies from Turkmenistan using offset schemes so that we might have Turkmen gas in our energy balance," Timashpolski said. He noted that the talks are held as part of Belarus's concept on diversification of imports of fuel and energy resources. Apart from Turkmen gas, the concept provides for gas supplies from Azerbaijan, Iran and Venezuela.
