President of Belarus wishes Pope of Rome to meet Moscow Patriarch in Belarus

In an interview for the West-European mass media, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko expressed his willingness to see the Pope of Rome meet the Patriarch of Moscow on the Belarusian land, reported BELTA.

"I would like to see the meeting of the Pope and the Patriarch of Moscow in the center of Europe, on the border between the Orthodoxy and Catholicism," the President said.

Alexander Lukashenko expressed regret that deceased Pope John Paul II did not visited Belarus ๕ ๕he was eager to visit out country, his love to Belarus was sincere".

"The major principle in Belarus is that every person chooses his/her confession. There have never been any ethnic or religious clashes and harassment in Belarus," Alexander Lukashenko said.
