India to set up Digital Learning Centre in Belarus

New Delhi, September 16 (PTI): India will establish a Digital Learning Centre in Minsk, Belarus that will impart skills in advanced computing and software creation to students there. The Centre would be run initially by faculty from India and thereafter with Belarusian professionals.

The Centre is being set-up under the Government's economic assistance project in collaboration with the Government of Belarus and a Memorandum of Understanding to this effect will be signed during the two-day visit of the External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna to Belarus, starting on Wednesday. During the visit, Mr. Krishna will hold wide-ranging talks with his counterpart Sergey Martynov and also sign an agreement on Cooperation in Physical Education and Sports, the Ministry said here on Tuesday.

From Minsk, the Minister travels to Turkmenistan for a 2-day official visit starting September 18 during which a Programme of Cooperation between the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan will be signed. Mr. Krishna will call on the Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov and hold meetings with the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov. The Ministry said the visit of Mr. Krishna to Turkmenistan will reaffirm the strong bilateral ties and it is also in keeping with the high level exchanges with the country.
