Lithuania: Cooperation with Belarus at all levels

Next week Belarus's President Alexander Lukashenko will travel to Lithuania on an official visit.

It will be one of his first visits to an EU country since the EU lifted the ban on his entry last February.

The news portal Delfi comments:

"We need to work with Belarus at all levels, not just with the opposition.

: Three important issues need to be talked about with the president:

* Economic cooperation.

* The presidential and local elections in Belaurs in 2010.

* Viktor Gonkar [politician], Anatoly Krasovsky [businessman], Dmitry Zavadsky [journalist], Yuri Zacharenko [politician].

: Their disappearances have yet to be cleared up.

: Belarus and Lithuania are neighbours. We are connected not least by neighbourly relations. Lithuania should make an effort to strengthen our relations, for example by making Schengen visas cheaper. Sixty euros is too expensive for many people. Russians only pay half."
