Hamed bin Zayed inaugurated Cultural Week of Belarus

WAM Abu Dhabi, Sept. 23rd, 2010 (WAM) -- H.H. Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chief of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court yesterday evening inaugurated the activities of the Cultural Week of the Republic of Belarus at the Emirates Palace in the presence of Viktor Lukashenko, Belarusian President's son. The Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) is organizing the Belarusian Cultural Week.

The National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Belarus, which is well-known and admired internationally with a special ballet performance "Romeo and Juliette" will be presented during the event.

In addition to that modern art works of the Belarusian painters will also be presented during the Cultural Week. Painting first developed in Belarus in the eleventh and twelfth centuries, under influence of Byzantine art gave to the world many famous artists. One of them is associated with several key art movements and was one of the most successful artists of the 20th century, pioneer of modernist - Marc Shagall, who was born near Vitebsk. And finally everybody will be impressed with a unique beauty and richness of the Belarusian nature captured by Belarusian master of photography Sergei Plytkevich.

Mohamed Khalaf Al Mazroui, Director General of ADACH, on this occasion said that ADACH is working on spreading the cultural message of Abu Dhabi in addition to building bridges of artistic and cultural communication with the Republic of Belarus highlighting his appreciation for the great and pioneering role of this friendly country in the human heritage reflected in the Belarusian art.
