Belarus and Cuba Discuss Ways to Foster Economic Exchange

HAVANA, Cuba, Sept 24.- Belarus and Cuba discussed on Thursday in Minsk possibilities to foster trade relations which are not up to the current actual potentials.

In a meeting with Cuban deputy Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment minister, Oscar Perez, Belarusian deputy Foreign minister pointed out that political cooperation between the two countries is much stronger than economic collaboration, Prensa Latina reported.

Petrishenko said commercial exchange between Cuba and Belarus is worth currently 50 million dollars top and noted that such figure is very far from the actual potential.

The Cuban official said the island is interested in exploiting new possibilities of trade and noted that he was accompanied by representatives of different economic sectors with good prospects to develop fruitful cooperation.

The Belarusian deputy minister said Cuba has thousands of tractors manufactured in his country, many of which need repair services, special the newer models.

Regarding that, Petrishenko suggested that experts from his country could provide technical training to the Cubans for the management and repair of those equipments. (ACN)
