EU may resume ban on entry into Europe for Belarus officials

BRUSSELS, September 27 (Itar-Tass) - The European Union may resume a ban on the entry of Belarusian officials into European countries, a source from the EU Council told Tass on Monday. According to the source, the decision may be reached at an EU foreign ministerial meeting in Luxemburg on October 25.

The ministerial meeting will analyse the regime of sanctions against Belarus, which have been suspended. The sanctions may be resumed in case the ministers consider that Belarus has failed to reach major progress in the issues of human rights, the freedom of the press and freedom of assembly, the source noted.

He also made it clear that the preliminary analysis of the situation in Belarus testifies in favour of the resumption of sanctions.
