Suspected attackers on Russian Embassy detained in Minsk

Law enforcement officials in Minsk have detained six people suspected of involvement in the attack on the embassy of Russia in Minsk, which occurred on the night of August 31.

"They were detained in the investigation of the criminal case opened into the attack on the Russian Embassy in Minsk", said the Chief of Department of Information and Public Relations of the Internal Affairs Department in Minsk, Alexander Lastovsky.

As reported before, on the late evening of 30 August, someone threw two Molotov cocktails into the territory of the Russian Embassy in Minsk. According to eyewitnesses, one of the bottles hit the car parked in the embassy compound. The car got burned down, but the fire didn't spread any farther. The firefighters' help was not required.

Fortunately, no one was hurt in the accident.

Later a criminal case was opened into this incident under the Criminal Code Article "arson".

It is worth noting that the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said he would not rule out the involvement of the Russian side in the incident. The Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov called such statements blasphemous.
