Belarus ready to give up control of oil refineries

RBC, 26.10.2006, Minsk 11:17:59.The Belarusian government is ready to sell stakes in and even give up control of a number of its companies, such as Belarusian oil refineries or tire works Belshina, on the condition that investment obligations are a mandatory part of the agreements. The republic's Economy Minister Nikolai Zaychenko made a statement to this effect when he spoke at a plenary meeting at a Belarusian-Latvian economic forum. He added that the terms of such a privatization should be clear and transparent to protect the interests of a large workforce that stands behind these enterprises.
