Russia, Belarus May Unite

Dushambe, Oct 5 (Prensa Latina) Presidents Vladimir Putin (Russia) and Alexander Lukashenko (Belarus) will decide at an annual meeting whether to set up an interstate union.

Both statesmen will attend the Presidential Summit of the Community of Independent States opening Friday in Tadzhikistan.

Dushambe also hosts the Summit of the Organization of the Treaty of Collective Security and Eurasian Economic Community.

Both statesmen will trade views on the structure of the future Unified State whose creation was encouraged over one decade back but clashed with tough barriers like socio-economic integration.

The intergovernmental meeting was postponed to October 19 when both will approve the 2008 budget.

Russia proposed this week to the bilateral Supreme Council to accept Victor Zubkov candidature to replace Mijail Fradkov as cabinet chief.
