President of Belarus to partake in CIS and EurAsEC summits in Bishkek

On October 9, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko is expected to leave for Kyrgyzstan, BelTA learnt from the presidential press service.

The President of Belarus is set to participate in the sessions of the CIS Council of the Heads of State and the Interstate Council of the Eurasian Economic Community in Bishkek on October 10.

The CIS leaders are supposed to consider the prospects of the economic and humanitarian cooperation, security ensuring and the issue of the Commonwealth activity intensification. In particular, the agenda includes the discussion of the draft CIS Economic Development Strategy through 2020, the issue of defining energy cooperation as the key area of collaboration between the CIS member-states in 2009, the plan of major events on the celebrations of the 65th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War1941-1945.

The Commonwealth strengthening as an international organization will be also high on the agenda of the session.

The EurAsEC summit will focus on the results of the implementation of the agreements and priority areas of the activity for the near future.

The summiteers are supposed to consider the report of the EurAsEC Secretary General on the Customs Union and the Single Economic Space registration within the Commonwealth, the issue of giving the Eurasian Bank for Development a status of an observer in the EurAsEC and the draft EurAsEC budget 2009.

The summiteers will discuss draft events 2008-2010 on the implementation of the priority areas in the EurAsEC development. The document includes the unperformed events of 2003-2007 on the development of the energy market and transport union cooperation in the real sector of the economy, food safety, cooperation in the socio-humanitarian, ecological areas, the migration policy, the EurAsEC management system improvement.

On October 11, the Belarusian Head of State will hold bilateral talks with President of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan Kurmanbek Bakiyev to sign a range of documents aimed at the expansion of the treaty-legal base in the different cooperation fields.
