Medvedev to hold talks with Lukashenko in Moscow

MOSCOW, October 25 (Itar-Tass) -- Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will hold talks with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko on Saturday, the Kremlin press service said.

"Lukashenko will visit Russia on October 25 this year at the invitation of the Russian president and in compliance with an earlier reached decision," the press service says.

Last time, Medvedev and Lukashenko met in Bishkek during summits of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC) on October 10.

This time, the two presidents are expected to discuss a wide range of bilateral issues - - from the creation of the Union State to deliveries of Russia's gas and electric power to Belarus. It is quite probable that the two countries' leaders will also pay attention to the problem of the world financial crisis.

Last week, Belarus asked Russia to grant a two-billion-dollar stabilisation credit. On Tuesday, Russian Finance Minister Kudrin said that Moscow would render such aid to Minsk. According to him, "the funds will be transferred by two one-billion-dollar tranches."

Minsk will receive the first tranche this year, and the second in 2009.

However, as Kudrin said, the conditions of granting the credit are being finalized.
