Belarus-Ukraine trade exceeds $3.5bn in January-August

In January-August 2008, the trade between Belarus and Ukraine doubled to reach $3.549.7 billion over the same point of 2007, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Economy Ministry.

Exports grew 2.6 times up to $2.094.4 billion, imports - 50.5% to $1.455.3 billion. Trade surplus totaled $639.1 million (in January-August 2007, trade deficit was $154.2 million).

The exports to Ukraine grew mainly to the deliveries of oil products, tractors including truck tractors, potash fertilizers, trucks, farm machines and equipment, tyres, sugar, ethylene polymers and others.

Over the eight months of 2008, Belarus increased imports from Ukraine in hot-rolled metal, ferroalloy, elevator equipment, electric accumulators, beer, sunflower-seed oil.
