Belarus, Vietnam have similar positions on international issues
Belarus and Vietnam have similar positions on the key international issues, Chairman of the Permanent Commission for International Affairs and National Security of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly Nikolai Cherginets said at a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Belarus Vu Xuan Ninh in Minsk on October 28, reported BELTA.
According to Nikolai Cherginets, at the last Inter-Parliamentary Union session Belarus and Vietnam had a common position that it was inadmissible to spread the notion "nuclear weapon" on the notion "nuclear energy" as it could considerably restrict the possibilities of some countries of using nuclear energy.
The Chairman of the commission also praised the economic relations between Belarus and Vietnam. "The economies of the two countries are complementary, and we are glad that Vietnam purchases our BelAZ vehicles, tractors, potash fertilizers, electronics," Nikolai Cherginets said.
Over the last four years the trade between Belarus and Vietnam has soared more than two times. In January-August 2008, the bilateral trade exceeded $88 million. Belarus' trade surplus totaled more than $54 million.
