Veterinary Service of Belarus to Carry out Inspections at Russian Enterprises

Belarusian Veterinary Service is going to carry out inspections at Russian enterprises which supply products of animal origin to Belarus, as Mikhail Saveliev, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food reported to the Information Agency "Interfax - Zapad".

M. Saveliev specified that the largest suppliers would be inspected in the first instance. Total number of Russian enterprises which will be inspected till May 1st, 2009 is 250.

The verbal agreement with Federal Agency for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision (Rosselkhoznadzor) on the inspections has been already reached, he added.

M. Saveliev believes that conduction of mutual inspections helps to "tackle some issues in interrelations for harmonization of legislation and elaborating of united approaches".
