Putin to take part in Russia-Belarus Union State summit

RBC, 06.10.2008, Moscow 09:31:08.Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin will take part in a meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Russia-Belarus Union State in Minsk today, the governmental press office told journalists. During his one-day working visit, Putin will also meet with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, as well as hold Russian-Belarusian intergovernmental talks.

According to a government source, those talks will relate, among other things, to natural gas supplies to Belarus, and matters of Russia granting an intergovernmental loan. The source has reiterated that the price of gas is calculated based on a contract signed on December 31, 2006, which states the pricing formula. Meanwhile, Belarus is proposing changing the parameters of the document in order to lower prices for gas supplies to its territory.

Over 20 items are on the agenda of the Council of Ministers meeting, pertaining to such spheres as the Union State's 2009 budget, joint property management, cooperation in science, technology, and telecommunications.
