MINSK. Oct 7 (Interfax-West) - Belarus is ready to cooperate with the European Union in various areas if Europe respects the interests and traditions of the Belarusian state, President Alexander Lukashenko said.
"We are ready for any relations with the European Union. But we are asking for just one thing - respect for our sovereignty, independence and traditions. Do not demand from us what we cannot do today," Lukashenko told Alexander Stubb, chairman-in-office of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and Finnish Foreign Minister, in Minsk on Tuesday.
