Iran, Belarus to Boost Trade, Customs Cooperation

TEHRAN (FNA)- Belarusian envoy to Iran on Sunday asked for implementation of an agreement signed by the two countries in 2004 on customs cooperation.

In a meeting with Head of Iran's Customs Office Ardeshir Mohammadi, Belarusian Ambassador to Tehran Victor Rybak expressed Minsk's preparedness to expand trade and customs cooperation with Tehran.

He reminded that the volume of trade exchanges between Iran and Belarus has doubled in 2006-2008, and added, "This indicates that a proper atmosphere exists for the expansion of trade ties and development of customs cooperation between Iran and Belarus."

Rybak underlined that Belarus predicts brilliant prospects for trade and economic ties with Tehran.

He noted that the Iranian and Belarusian businessmen's growing knowledge of each other's countries has prepared a good ground for a further growth in trade ties between the two countries.

Head of Iran's customs office, for his part, expressed Iran's willingness to promote trade and customs relations with Belarus.

Mohammadi underlined that holding permanent exhibitions in Tehran and Minsk and introducing the two countries' products will help expand trade exchanges between Iran and Belarus.
