CARACAS, Venezuela - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is planning to visit Russia, Belarus and Iran to reinforce ties with some of his close allies.
Chavez says he expects to travel to Moscow around Oct. 11 to cement a series of accords on trade and technology. He did not give details Sunday.
Chavez has cultivated close ties with Moscow while buying billions of dollars in Russian arms including helicopters, fighter jets and 100,000 Kalashnikov rifles.
