Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has reported the beginning of talks with Belarus as a transit country on the supplies of Ukrainian electricity to Lithuania.
He announced this at a joint press conference with Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite in Vilnius on Thursday. At the same time, Viktor Yanukovych said that there was currently no agreement with Lithuania on the deliveries of Ukrainian electricity. The President noted that the issue of Ukrainian electricity supplies to Lithuania was complicated by the fact that the scheme should also involve a third party - Belarus as a transit country, adding that in the energy sector it is necessary to develop cooperation not only with respect to electricity supplies, but also to oil and gas supplies.
