MTS Belarus posts January-June revenue

MOSCOW, Nov 1 (Prime-Tass) -- Belarusian-Russian joint venture Mobile TeleSystems Belarus, or MTS Belarus, posted revenue of 297.041 billion Belarusian rubles in January-June, MTS Belarus said on its official Web site Wednesday.

The company released the financial data for the first time. No comparisons or accounting standards were provided.

MTS Belarus' capital expenditures amounted to 107.313 billion rubles in January-June, the company said.

In January-June, the monthly average revenue per user (ARPU) stood at U.S. $9.86, while minutes of usage (MoU) amounted to 407 minutes, the company said.

MTS Belarus had 2.584 million users as of July 1, up from 2.339 million users as of April 1, the company said.

MTS Belarus was registered in April 2002 and started commercial operations in June 2002. The company's key shareholders are Belarus? Mezhdugorodnaya Svyaz (Intercity Communications) with 51% and Russia's largest mobile phone operator Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) with 49%.
