Prospects for the Moldovan-Belarussian economic collaboration are considered in Chisinau today at the tenth meeting of the two states' joint intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation.

Sources at the government have said the two sides are to approach the bilateral agricultural and industrial collaboration, possibilities of delivering Moldovan fruit and vegetable production on the Belarussian market, and selecting and testing several varieties of agricultural crops.

The import of Belorussian agricultural machines to provide the Moldovan technological stations of machines in 2007, as well as possibilities of assembling and modernising tractors in Moldova are to be in the focus of the meeting.

The sides are also to consider certain issues related to the cooperation in industry, energy and road management.

Belarus is among Moldova's top economic partners. Statistics show that, in January-September 2006, the export of Moldovan goods to the Belarussian market amounted to 48.3 million dollars, increasing 8.1 per cent against the same period last year. // Moldpres
