Belarus sees foreign trade rise in January-September

RBC, 01.11.2006, Minsk 10:34:05.Belarus's foreign trade totaled $30.87bn in the first nine months of 2006, up 32.7 percent from the same period in 2005, the country's Statistics and Analysis Ministry said. Exports climbed 27.3 percent to $14.748bn, and imports by 38 percent to $16.123bn. The negative foreign trade balance stood at $1.375bn.

The CIS countries accounted for more than half the trade. In the reporting period, trade with the CIS rose 30.4 percent to $16.911bn against a year earlier. Exports and imports added up to $6.16bn and $10.75bn respectively, which is 19.1 percent and 38 percent higher than in 2005.

Trade with non-CIS countries expanded by 35.5 percent reaching $13.96bn, with exports growing 33.9 percent to $8.587bn and imports rising 38.1 percent to $5.372bn.
