Putin heads for CIS summit in Minsk

RBC, 28.11.2006, Minsk 09:31:58.President of Russia Vladimir Putin will take part in the CIS summit in Minsk today, the president's press service said. The heads of CIS states will discuss a report on enhancing the efficiency of the Commonwealth. The report aims at updating CIS institutes and adapting them to the new situation. The participants are expected to make a decision on future work in this respect. The CIS development concept and its implementation program which will be developed by an intergovernmental group comprising deputies of CIS foreign ministers are to become the next stage.

Today, a number of documents pertaining to cooperation in law enforcement are to be signed, including a program for fighting against people trafficking for 2007-2010. A document recommending that CIS states make the Victory Day (May 9) a public holiday and adopt a national law to this effect has also been made ready for signing.

Today Putin will also meet his Belarus's counterpart Alexander Lukashenko.
