Gazprom and Beltransgaz to form a joint venture on parity basis.

Gazprom and Beltransgaz will establish a joint venture on parity basis. The press release published on the site of Russia's President says that Vladimir Putin made the declaration at his meeting with reporters on November 28, upon the summit in Minsk.

Particular parameters of the joint venture will be discussed in the nearest future, Mr. Putin said and emphasized that Russia will transfer to market relations with all its partners in the power area.

Gazprom and Beltransgaz signed a contract covering gas deliveries and transit in 2006 on December 27, 2005. Under it, in 2006 Gazprom will deliver 21 bn cubic meters of gas to Belarus; 1.5 bn cubic meters of them will be supplied if there is technical possibility.

The gas price and transportation rate in 2006 correspond to the similar terms of 2005. The gas price is $46.68 per 1,000 cubic meters of gas. The transportation rate is $0.75 per 1,000 cubic meters via Beltransgaz networks and $0.46 via the Yamal-Europe pipeline.
