Detained Belarusian spy might have collaborated also with Russian secret services

According to unofficial information, Poland has already applied to Lithuania seeking the extradition of the Belarus spy suspect Sergei Monich from this country, online site Khartiya'98 reports. At the same time, Minister Coordinator of Polish secret services Zbigniew Wasserman announced that "the fact that the detained had worked for the Belarus secret services does not exclude his ties with Russian intelligence", according to Radio Liberty Belarus Service. News agency PAP quoted an official of the Lithuanian General Public Prosecutor's Office as saying in Vilnius that Monich has been put under arrest for one month. The news agency quoted a Lithuanian official as saying that Vilnius expects the Polish extradition request to be lodged during this time. The extradition procedure can take about six weeks, Polish legal sources said.

Polish national prosecutor Janusz Kaczmarek said earlier that the Belarusian man arrested on allegations of espionage was trying to glean information about Polish intelligence agents, he has been in contact with several Polish citizens for two years, offering money for classified information, including names of intelligence officials.
