VP Stresses Expansion of Ties with Belarus

TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iran's first Vice-President Parviz Dawoodi underlined that development of Iran-Belarus relations serves the interests of both nations.

A statement released by the Presidential Press Office said that first vice-president Parviz Dawoodi met with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and his accompanying delegation here on Monday.

During the meeting, Dawoodi noted the common views shared by Iran and Belarus about global issues, specially with regard to Iran's right of access to civilian nuclear technology, and said that the deepening and consolidation of ties as well as adoption of joint stances in the face of different issues would increase the international power of both states and encourage those countries which hold parallel views to develop their relations and resultantly adopt more powerful stances in the face of the international issues.

The official voiced Iran's support for the promotion of trade and economic ties in areas of energy, export and import of products, export of technical and engineering services and establishment of joint ventures.

He also stated Iran's preparedness to develop ties in ground of aerospace technology and science.

Dawoodi noted the decisiveness of the Iranian and Belarusian officials for the expansion of cooperation, and mentioned, "Experience and historical background of the two countries' relations reveal that we can secure the interests of the two states in all sectors through the expansion of relations, given the resolve of the two countries' officials and the efforts to be made by the experts."

For his part, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said that there reside impediments for the expansion of cooperation with Iran in the different areas of defense, industrial hi-tech and different sciences.

He voiced full readiness of the Belarusian officials to remove any kind of problems in the way of the expansion of ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran , including banking affairs, concluding that development of relations with Tehran serves the interests of the Belarusian nation.
