Iran, Minks become sister cities

Tehran and Minsk became sister cities. An agreement to that effect was signed in the course of President Alexander Lukashenko's visit to Tehran on Tuesday.

Minsk Mayor Michael Pavelov and Tehran Mayor Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf signed the sisterhood memorandum.

Pavelov expressed satisfaction with the agreement and said that he hoped the agreements signed during President Lukashenko's stay in Tehran would lead to positive and constructive cooperation between the two countries in all fields.

Mayor of Minsk briefed Qalibaf on public transport services available in Minsk and said that metro, trams, minibus, bus and taxi services are run under supervision of the municipality.

He called for developing cooperation between municipalities of Tehran and Minsk in the fields of transport, technology, cultural and arts exchanges as well as cooperation on education including exchange of university students.

Qalibaf said that Tehran Municipality is keen on bilateral cooperation between Iran and Belarus.
