Azerbaijan, Belarus lead CIS for industrial growth

MOSCOW, November 8 (Itar-Tass) - Azerbaijan and Belarus led the CIS countries in January-September 2006 for industrial growth with 39.2 and 12.2 percent respectively on the same period last year, PRIME-Tass reports with a reference to the CIS Interstate Committee for Statistics.

Russia's industrial output grew by 4.2 percent, and it thus rates sixth among the CIS countries for industrial growth rate.

Industrial output this year through September dropped in Kyrgyzstan by 11.4 percent, in Moldova by seven percent and in Armenia by 1.6 percent.

Moldova showed the highest inflation rate, 9.1 percent, in January-September 2006. Tajikistan rated second with consumer prices growth of nine percent, Russia third, 7.2 percent. Armenia showed the lowest index, 2.3 percent.
