IDEX Online Staff Reporter

Israeli diamond tycoon Lev Leviev discussed opening a jewelry production plant during a meeting with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko Tuesday, Leviev told Interfax news agency.

Leviev is reportedly considering a number of investment projects in Belarus, including the construction of entertainment and shopping centers and residential buildings.

"At the end of this year we'll sum up the results of the negotiation process and begin making investments," Leviev said.

"At the initial stage the Leviev Group's investment in jewelry production could amount to about $30 million," the president's press service quoted first deputy prime minister Vladimir Semashko.
