Wen Jiabao visits Belarus

MINSK. Nov 4 (Interfax) - Premier of the Chinese State Council Wen Jiabao arrived on a visit to Belarus on Sunday.

It is expected that the expansion of Belarusian-Chinese cooperation in the trade, economic, and financial areas, as well as the implementation of a number of joint projects will be discussed within the framework of the visit, the Belarusian Council of Ministers told Interfax.

Wen Jiabao is expected to meet with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and hold talks with representatives of the Belarusian government on November 5.

The Chinese premier hailed the current level of Belarusian-Chinese relations in a statement distributed among journalists in Minsk on Sunday.

"Being faithful friends and secure partners, Chinese and Belarusian peoples have a long history of friendly relations. Chinese-Belarusian relations have been developing since diplomatic relations were established 15 years ago. The leaders of the two countries have been holding regular meetings, mutual trust in the political area has been growing, practical cooperation in various fields has been developing in a fruitful manner, and interaction in the international arena has been efficient," the statement reads.

Chinese premier visited Belarus 12 years ago for the last time. ar
