Art show will benefit victims of Chernobyl

Bridges to Belarus, a Cambridge-based charity which helps children in Belarus affected by the Chernobyl disaster, is hosting an art exhibition at the Michaelhouse Cafe in Trinity Street, Cambridge.

The exhibition will include pieces donated by UK artists and art from children directly supported by the charity. All funds raised will go to buy washing machines, vitamins and school books for families affected by Chernobyl.

The charity works with thousands of people who still live in extreme poverty - some on less than 25p per day - and many without running water 21 years on from the disaster. More than 60,000 people in the Belarus region have been or will be affected by thyroid cancer, according to the group.

The exhibition runs until November 18. Go to www.bridgestobelarus.org.uk
