Russia may supply Iskander missile system to Belarus

MOSCOW. Nov 14 (Interfax-AVN) - The supply of the Iskander tactical missile system to Belarus would be a asymmetrical response by Russia to the deployment of a U.S. anti-missile system in Europe, Commander of Russian Armed Forces Missile Troops and Artillery Col. Gen. Vladimir Zaritsky said on Wednesday.

"Why not? Given adequate conditions and an adequate Belarusian position," Zaritsky said, commenting on the statement made by his Belarusian colleague Mikhail Puzikov on the Belarusian Army Missile Brigade's plans to be armed with the Iskander-E missile system.

"Any action is met with a counteraction, the same is true for the deployment the U.S. anti-missile system in the Czech Republic and Poland," Zaritsky said.

Russian military experts closely cooperate with their Belarusian colleagues and are ready to develop this cooperation, Zaritsky said.

"When trying to achieve common goals, we are ready to work with them," Zaritsky said.
