Supplying Iskanders to Belarus to Be a Response to U.S.

The supplies of Russia's Iskander theater missile systems to Belarus could be one of the options of the asymmetrical response to stationing the U.S. missile defense shield in Europe, said Con. Gen. Vladimir Zaritsky, the chief of the RF Armed Forces' Missile Troops and Artillery.

"Why not? With respective conditions and respective position of Belarus," Zaritsky said, when commenting on the desire of his Belarus' counterpart Mikhail Puzikov to upgrade their missile brigade by Iskander E systems.

"Any action always meets counteraction. It's the same thing with the U.S. missile defense components in Czechia and Poland," Zaritsky pointed out, specifying that the cooperation of missile military of Russia and Belarus is very close.

"When solving the common tasks, we are ready to work with them," colonel general said.
