Software developer Oracle to open office in Belarus

Oracle, the world's largest software development company, is expected to open a representative office in Belarus soon, Oracle Vice President, Director General for the CIS Boris Shcherbakov told a press conference on November 13, reported Belta.

In his words, the office in Minsk will become another step in the corporation's strategy for expanding its presence on the CIS market and building up cooperation with Belarus' leading companies. Enhancing the awareness of Belarusian users about Oracle's latest technologies, solutions and services and the expansion of the network of partners are among priorities of the new division, said Boris Shcherbakov. He underscored the corporation highly appreciates the scientific and industrial potential of Belarus and is ready to offer new information technologies for accomplishing IT tasks and raising the competitive ability of Belarusian companies.

Oracle intends to participate in the development of educational programmes covering information technologies for Belarusian universities. In particular, there are plans to establish cooperation with the Belarusian State University in this area. Thanks to such programmes universities will train professional specialists with a good practical grasp, noted Boris Shcherbakov.

Oracle Corporation has been working in Belarus for over 20 years. The number of its clients includes over 300 state, financial, industrial, telecommunication companies, scientific and design institutions, energy, gas, and oil industry companies, transport companies. The number includes the State Customs Committee, the Tax Ministry, the Finance Ministry, the National Bank and other institutions.

Oracle sells software solutions, provides technical support, training, consulting, and assimilation of business proposals. In the 2008 business year Oracle sales totalled $22.4 billion. Oracle cooperates with 300,000 customers across the globe.
