Azerbaijan and Belarus sign ICT cooperation deal

Baku. Ilham Isabalayeva - APA-ECONOMICS. A "Joint Plan of Activities to Promote Cooperation in the field of ICT between Azerbaijan and Belarus" was signed on the sidelines of the 14th Azerbaijan International Telecommunications and Information Technologies Exhibition (BakuTel-2008).

The document was signed by Elmir Velizadeh, Azerbaijan's Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technologies, and Nikolai Strukov, Belarus' Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technologies.

Belarusian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Nikolai Patskevich praised the expansion of cooperation between the two countries in the field of ICT and the importance of the expanding relations in the field for the both countries.

The Ambassador added that both countries are interested in further expansion of cooperation.

Ali Abbasov, Minister of Communications and Information Technologies, hailed the document as important for the both sides.

According to the minister, a joint plan of activities is the first document signed between the two countries in the field of ICT and it will create new opportunities for future cooperation in this field, and open a new stage of cooperation between the two countries.

The plan envisions holding a Business Forum, training courses and other events next year.
