Belarus Industry Minister calls on Sontosh Mohan Dev

A delegation from Belarus led by Mr. Anatoly M. Rucetski, Minister of Industries called upon the Minister of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises Sh. Sontosh Mohan Dev in New Delhi today. Shri Dev welcomed the delegation recalling India's long and time tested friendly relations with the CIS countries.

Both the Ministers discussed current trade scenario between the two countries and noted with appreciation the amount of bilateral trade touching US$ 300 million during the first 9 months of this calendar year. They hoped to achieve bilateral trade of US$ 500 million by 2010. Discussions were also held on wide ranging issues including engaging BHEL for reconditioning Grondno-II Power Plant in Belarus, implementation of an IT project by HMT(International) for Belarus High Technologies Park and exploring business opportunities in India by Belarusian Automobile Works in association with Hindustan Engineering Corpn. Ltd. for manufacturing High Capacity Dumpers. Shri Dev impressed upon the Belarus delegation to restructure their tariff to facilitate higher exports of tea to Belarus from India.

The Belarusian delegation evinced keen interest in widening business cooperation between two countries. Both the countries also agreed to leverage their technology for joint ventures and industrial cooperation.

The Belarusian Minister extended an invitation to Shri Sontosh Mohan Dev to visit Belarus.
