Belarusian PM Orders Russian Ruble-Denominated Loans for Supplies

LONDON. Nov 18 (Interfax) - Belarusian Prime Minister Sergei Sidorsky has said he has issued an order to ensure Russian ruble- denominated loans for deliveries because the Russian ruble could receive regional currency status.

"The Russian ruble could become a regional currency. We welcome this proposal," Sidorsky said during a Belarusian investment forum in London on Tuesday.

This decision was taken at a meeting of the Belarusian and Russian presidents, and it has repeatedly been discussed by the two countries' prime ministers, he said.

"I have ordered the National Bank to start taking measures to provide loans for shipments denominated in Russian rubles," the Belarusian prime minister said.
