Vietnamese, Belarusian military chiefs meet in Ha Noi

HA NOI - The Chief of the General Staff of Viet Nam People's Army Senior Lieut Gen Nguyen Khac Nghien held an extended meeting with his Belarussian counterpart, Senior Lieut Gen Gurulev Sergei Petrovich, in Ha Noi yesterday.

Nghien warmly welcomed Gurulev's high-ranking military delegation, and said the visit marked a significant contribution to boosting mutual understanding and bilateral relations between the two armies and peoples.

At the meeting, the military leaders discussed issues related to regional and global security as well as measures to promote traditional relations between the two armies and peoples.

Later in the day, Gurulev and his entourage paid a courtesy visit to Minister of Defence Gen. Phung Quang Thanh.

The Belarusian guests began their visit to Viet Nam on Tuesday at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart Senior. Lieut. Gen. Nghien, who later in the day hosted a banquet in honour of the Belarus military delegation.
