Syrian Prime Minister intends to visit Belarus

A visit of Syrian Prime Minister Mohammad Naji Ottri to Belarus will allow Belarus and Syria to revise the agreements of the two countries and to shape plans for the future, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Syria to Belarus Faruq Taha told BelTA.

It will be the first visit of the Syrian Premier to Belarus. During the visit, the two sides are expected to sign the protocol of intent and shape plans for the near three years, the ambassador said.

According to Faruq Taha, the Syrian side considers the forthcoming visit as a great contribution to friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

The legal-treaty base of the bilateral Belarusian-Syrian relations includes the basic intergovernmental agreements including the agreements on trade, economic and technical cooperation, the agreement on assistance and mutual protection of investments, the agreement on avoidance of double taxation, the agreement on air service, on visa-free trips using diplomatic and service passports. Belarus and Syria concluded agreements on cooperation in information, sport and tourism, education, science and culture, international highway service and others. A number of interdepartmental agreements were inked as well.
