Over 9 months Belarus' export to Ukraine makes up $2.4bln

In January-September 2008, Belarus' export to Ukraine made up $2.397 billion, or 2.5 times up over the same period last year. The import from Ukraine made up $1.654, or 50.1% up, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarus Economy Ministry.

According to the Economy Ministry, all in all, in January-September, the Belarusian export to Ukraine increased by $1.441 billion. Belarus increased the supplies of oil products, tractors, potash fertilisers, trucks, agricultural machinery, tires, sugar, mineral fertilisers, polymers and other goods.

Belarus increased the import of Ukrainian carbon steels, ferrous-based alloys, elevator machines, rods, electrical accumulators, beer, sunflower oil and other goods.

Over the nine months this year, the trade between Belarus and Ukraine increased two times to reach $4.05 billion. Belarus posted a surplus in trade with Ukraine to the tune of $743.1 million. Over the same period last year, Belarus posted a deficit in trade with that country to the tune of $146 million.
