Belarus, Libya See Eye to Eye on World Order - Lukashenko

MINSK. Nov 3 (Interfax-West) - Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has said Belarus and Libya hold comparable views about the need to build a multipolar world.

"As for the ideological foundation for our relations, we don't differ over approaches to questions of world order. Like you we believe that the world must be multipolar. This in general is the founding principle of the existence of any system. We've seen what a unipolar world order leads to," he said at a Monday meeting with Libyan leader Muammr Elgaddafi who is on an official visit in Belarus.

Belarus "is happy about your victory on the international arena," Lukashenko said. "We know how difficult it was for you to survive, to sustain the international sanctions absolutely illegally imposed on your people," he said.

In his turn the Libyan leader expressed confidence that the visit would give a strong impetus to the development of relations.

The world became unipolar due to the shift in the balance of forces, he said. "Nobody observes the U.N. principles, all international norms are being violated," he said.
