Lithuania - In Minsk, the Role of Belarus in the Baltic Sea Region was discussed

On 4-5 November in Belarus, Lithuania's Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Evaldas Ignatavicius took party in the 12th Minsk Forum "Belarus and Eastern Partnership: development prospects in policy, economy and society", where he gave a speech "The Council of the Baltic Sea States. The Role of Belarus and Perspectives for Activities".

The Vice-Minister spoke about Lithuania's activities, including the cooperation with the partners in the Baltic Sea region and benefits of such cooperation, presented priorities of Presidency of the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS): innovations, cross-border cooperation, clean environment and safe living conditions.

Vice-Minister E.Ignatavicius congratulated Belarus on becoming a CBSS observer and invited it to take part in every-day activities of this organisation actively.

In Minsk, the Vice-Minister met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Valery Voronecky and discussed with him important issues of bilateral cooperation. Vice-Minister E.Ignatavicius encouraged Belarus to complete the internal procedures of adjustment of the Agreement between Lithuania and Belarus on local cross-border traffic as soon as possible and once again confirmed Lithuania's preparation for signing the agreement.

The Minsk Forum is an annual event organised by the German-Belarusian society, during which important for Belarus political, economic and social issues are discussed. The Forum brings representatives from Belarusian authorities and opposition, experts, economists, analysts, and representatives from nongovernmental organisations from various European countries.
