Ukraine - President gives interview to Belarusian National TV

President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko gave an exclusive interview to the Channel 1 of National State TV and Radio Company of Belarus.

During the interview President has answered questions about internal political situation in Ukraine, the upcoming elections, gas trade, the epidemiological situation, as well as about the relations between Ukraine and Belarus.

Speaking about current state of Ukrainian-Belarusian relations, the Head of State said that these relations could be described as great.

"We have no serious problems in bilateral relations, their key ground is pragmatism. These relations are stable and constantly developing. Moreover, we have a unique understanding at the level of our peoples. The most important thing for our countries to is to feel the mutual benefits from joint projects ", said Victor Yushchenko.

The President also explained Ukraine's position on current integration processes in the Commonwealth of Independent States, particularly in the context of the results of the recent CIS Chisinau Summit dedicated to development of joint activities of member countries to overcome the consequences of the global financial and economic recession.

"If we talk about common interests, we must understand how to achieve the parameters of mutual intergovernmental decisions. When a summit is gathered and presidents gather, is important that they have adopted a document that they can confidently present to people. This was not the case in Chisinau. The decisions were purely formal and did not bring anything new to resolve issues on the agenda", said President Yushchenko.

"We are skeptical not because the CIS is a bad project, or because it does not have the potential, but because this project is often blocked by a lack of will, lack of modernization, the lack of bold innovative decisions. We have much less market than politics or discrimination in our relations. And this particular issue was brought up in Chisinau. We need the new will, other rules of relations - then everybody will benefit", said the President of Ukraine.
